Little L is three months old!! This last month has been quite different for L - three out of the four weeks someone in our home has been sick! It started with mom, then dad, and finally little L. Oh my goodness it is the saddest thing to see your baby all stuffed up, coughing, and so uncomfortable! His cough lasted 14 days, and it was a serious cough too - not those cute little baby coughs. But we are glad we got over it and are all feeling better. At one point we were worried about him getting an ear infection, so we took him to the doctor. Result: no ear infection! But it did give us an excuse to weigh him! :) So we have new statistics:
One week shy of being three months little L weighed in at 16 lbs. 5 oz.
I'm grateful that he slowed down in the weight gaining process! I swear he was on a roll towards setting a new world record - but now he seems to be settling down and recognizing the need to watch what he eats! :) This past month has also thrown him for a loop since we moved houses. Who would have thought that a two month old would need to adjust so much! After about a week being in the new place he started acting normal again (keep in mind this was during his two-week sick period ... perfect timing, eh?). And just in time to meet some of my family! My mom and dad, little brother and little sister have been on a crazy road trip trying to visit all the kids in my family, and Ohio was the place to be over the 4th of July weekend! Sad to say, that once L started really becoming comfortable with more people around, their trip was over and we said goodbye. How sad! We look forward to seeing them for a couple more days on their way back to Utah next week. In the mean time, here are some of my recent favorites of little L from the past month:
He giggles randomly. Sadly, not often enough to capture it - but every time it's a surprise and well worth the wait!
He reaches for his ankles now and will probably find his feet soon!
His cheeks are so big and kissable!
L cried his first tear ... he woke up and was so stuffed up he was having trouble breathing, so I took the suction bulb to his nose, and he did not like it one bit! I was just trying to help! Instead I caused him to cry with tears! Ah, my heart broke!
He likes to play with his hands and rest them on his belly - so fun to watch!
Since he was sick for so long, he needed to be held a ton! And even though he weighs a ridiculous amount, I still loved it because I know once he learns how to get around on his own there will be no stopping him!
Nonnie bought him a mobile to put in his crib, and he loves it! We use it as more of a active toy than a falling asleep toy - and he loves to follow the animals around!
He started batting at the toys on his little bouncer the other day after a little coaching from mommy. We're not quite sure if he knows what exactly he's doing, but it's cute either way! After a week he is now pulling them towards himself and trying to put them in his mouth. We are now on the hunt for more toys - what a fun stage!
L continues to stand up on our laps, and roll over when we put his on his tummy. Tummy time is practically non-existent because he just rolls over! I love it! Every once in a while he won't roll over but scoot in a circle (just using his right leg to push off of) until he gets enough power to flip over ... I'm sure he will be unstoppable once he learns how to get around on his own.
He absolutely loves to be held facing out. If he can see anything, it much better to be facing it and have full view of it.
He loves to talk with us - especially with Daddy. They can jabber on and on together!
L's smiles have gotten to be common thing around here now - especially when he gets enough sleep! He smiles at Mommy and Daddy all the time, and we just can't get enough of it! After a long hard day of work (or play for that matter!), seeing him smile makes it all worth it!
